Flood Sprint
Sprint-out simplifies the picture for a young QB: one sideline, one direction, throw on the run to the open level. Tell your players: 'We're fast to the edge — beat your defender to your spot because the ball comes out early.'
How to run it
- 1
This is full sprint — QB attacks the edge with pace, and the ball comes out to the flat unless the defense has it dead-covered.
- 2
C: you're open by design — catch the flat throw on the run and turn upfield in one motion.
- 3
WR3 and WR2: your breaks happen while the QB is still moving — be at eight and fifteen on time, because she won't wait.
Who the quarterback reads
- 1. C
- 2. Y
- 3. Z
Sprinting right, the flat is the now-throw the play is built to take — everything deeper is a bonus when the defense overplays it.
The concepts in this play
- Flood
- Send three receivers to one side at three different depths so a zone defense can't cover every level at once — someone is always open.
Who should run it
Developing. Teams with a season together, or middle-school age. A couple of reps to lock the spacing in.
