5v5 flag football play
Flood Left
This floods the left sideline at three depths off a QB roll, giving your QB one simple sideline picture instead of a full-field read. Tell your players: 'Short, middle, deep on one sideline — one defender always ends up wrong.'
How to run it
- 1
QB rolls left and reads on the move: flat first, then the out, then the sail crossing in behind — never skip ahead.
- 2
WR2: your sail crosses the whole field — stay patient and flatten at eleven yards so you arrive after the flat window, not with it.
- 3
WR1: run your go like the ball is coming every snap — pinning the deep defender to the sideline is what opens the sail.
Who the quarterback reads
- 1. C
- 2. Y
- 3. Z
Rolling left, the flat route to C arrives in the QB's vision first and is the easiest on-the-move completion — take it unless the defense jumps it.
The concepts in this play
- Flood
- Send three receivers to one side at three different depths so a zone defense can't cover every level at once — someone is always open.
- Levels
- Two routes into the same area at different depths (high–low). One defender has to choose who to cover, and he's wrong either way.
Who should run it
Developing. Teams with a season together, or middle-school age. A couple of reps to lock the spacing in.
