5v5 flag football play
Flood Boundary
Three receivers stack one sideline at three depths, so the short-side defenders have to pick who to lose. Tell your players: 'Deep, middle, flat — hold your depth and somebody is always open.'
How to run it
- 1
Into the short side the windows shrink — WR3's out must snap flat at nine yards, not drift up into WR2's go.
- 2
QB: peek the go first — one look, gone if it's not there — then bring your eyes down to the out and the flat in rhythm.
- 3
C: sprint to the flat and get your head around immediately — against a sitting flat defender you are the hot answer.
Who the quarterback reads
- 1. Z
- 2. Y
- 3. C
The go is checked first because it's a one-look alert — if the boundary defender squats on the shorter routes, the deep ball wins the down instantly.
The concepts in this play
- Flood
- Send three receivers to one side at three different depths so a zone defense can't cover every level at once — someone is always open.
Who should run it
Developing. Teams with a season together, or middle-school age. A couple of reps to lock the spacing in.
