5v5 flag football play
Pivot Go
The slot fakes inside, fakes outside, then runs past the defender who thinks she's figured it out. Tell your players: 'Every fake at full speed — slow fakes fool nobody.'
How to run it
- 1
WR3: the pivot-go is two lies — jab inside, snap back out like the flat route, and the moment your defender settles, go.
- 2
WR2: your deep cross drags the deep help out of WR3's lane — run it at full speed even though the ball rarely comes to you.
- 3
QB: be patient — this takes three seconds, so buy time with your drop and throw to the up-field shoulder.
Who the quarterback reads
- 1. Y
- 2. X
- 3. C
WR3's pivot-go is first because the play is built around it — the two fakes take time, and the QB's eyes must already be there when the defender bites.
The concepts in this play
- Double move
- Fake one route and run another — a hitch-and-go, a sluggo. Saved for a defender who's started jumping the first move.
- Downfield
- A vertical route that stretches the defense deep. Even when it isn't the throw, it clears space for everything underneath.
Who should run it
Advanced. Experienced or high-school rosters. Timing-dependent — rep it before you call it on Saturday.
